On Monday we celebrated Grandparents Day. KT loved having so many grandparents visit. We enjoyed showing them our classroom, reading and singing to them and sharing lunch together. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit us! We had a great morning!
KT had a fantastic day at Golden Ridge farm. We hope you like these photos! KT read the story called ‘My Two Blankets’ by Irena Kobald and Freya Blackwood for a literacy activity this week. After reading this story we had a class discussion about how we can help our friends at school feel safe, happy and included. Then we wrote our own ideas on a page that had a quilt design on it. After that we created our own class quilt by joining them altogether. Some of our words were ‘smile, kind, helpful, play’. Our class blanket!
We think our quilt is very special and looks fantastic! This week was Book Week. KT looked fabulous dressed up as different book characters! We loved seeing all the different characters at the Book Parade!
Today we participated in a cartoon workshop which was organised by Miss Campbell. Tony Murphy showed us how to draw cartoon characters using simple shapes. Here's our wonderful drawings. Mrs Taylor loved them and we hope that you do too!
This term in measurement we are learning about area. Today we measured the area of our shoe. Mrs Taylor traced around our shoe. Then we cut it out and compared the different sizes. We had to find a partner whose shoe had a larger or smaller area. We discussed how we could measure the area of our shoe and decided to put one on top of the other. Then we measured whose shoe had the largest and smallest area. Nathan's shoe had the largest area and Alyse's had the smallest area.
In Science, KT have been caring for their sunflower plants. We have been discussing what plants need to stay alive and have been watering them and putting them out in the sun everyday. We have been making observations about how our plants are growing and changing. We can now see a stem, leaves and roots.
On Tuesday we had a fantastic day at the sports carnival. Everyone looked wonderful in their house colours. KT loved running in their age race. We also had heaps of fun jumping over hurdles, jumping in the sack race and walking carefully in the egg and spoon relay. Mrs Taylor was very proud of KT and the great sportsmanship shown!
This week was Education week. We had lots of parents, grandparents and aunties visit our classroom. KT enjoyed showing some of their literacy and numeracy activities and explained what they were learning to do.
Thank you to all our wonderful visitors for spending some time with us. We had a great morning! This term our science unit is called 'What's Alive'. We will be investigating the basic needs of living things. Today we planted a tiny sunflower seed. We are going to investigate what plants need to help them grow and change. All About My PetKT have been busy completing their science booklet 'All About My Pet'. In this booklet the students had to identify the basic needs of their pet. They could record their ideas using words, pictures or photos. The students shared their observations and information to the class in an oral presentation. Thank you parents for helping your child with their learning. Great job KT!
